SEDFAS Young Arts were delight
ed to be a part of the third Sandwich Arts Week in September. Seven prize winners were chosen from the Create Exhibition at the Sandwich Technology School and Sir Roger Manwood’s School. These remarkably talented students’ works were displayed at St Peters Church alongside professional artists. Finally, the students attended the SEDFAS October meeting, where the Chair Bishop Michael Turnbull presented them with their prize and a certificate. Several students and their families stayed on for the lecture on Eric Ravilious. It is hoped that there will be an ongoing relationship with both these schools, and that more students will attend future lectures. The committee has introduced reduced fees to encourage young people to join.
In addition, the SEDFAS committee has funded several items to enhance the experience of children visiting the Sandwich museum. The museum has recently received Lottery Funding for a major ‘make over’ in order to display the Sandwich Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest. It is anticipated that our relationship with the museum may grow over time.
