Summer Art Exhibition at St Mary’s Arts Centre.
The Art Society Sandwich organised this 4 day event in the heart of Sandwich. The art on show, in its myriad forms, was created by our members and guests. Works were for sale or to simply ‘show’. Artists ranged from professional to amateur and many had never shown their work previously.
Although the society made a small profit, the aim of the exhibition was to give our members the opportunity to share their talents and gain inspiration and appreciation from that sharing.
It was also a way to improve our membership numbers. Two welcome stewards manned the door, both to ensure people were warmly welcomed and to also explain who we were and to give out flyers and promote our discounted 2022 Membership offer.
Other stewards wandered around the exhibition having conversations with visitors. Many were themselves artists and very keen to join. Our membership secretary signed up 12 people during the event and many more have become aware of our society and expressed an interest in joining.
Our refreshment table of delicious cake, teas and coffee not only led to a healthy profit, but also gave people the opportunity to discuss the show and potential membership at a more leisurely pace.
Most artists who exhibited also stewarded at the event, forging firmer bonds and friendships with other members and the Committee.
It was a successful event with almost 500 visitors. A huge number of people commented favourably in our guest book and we will be back next year, bigger and even better! We hope you will join us.
