The 2025 TASS Summer Art Exhibition: A Celebration of Creativity and Community
We’re delighted to celebrate the success of this year’s TASS Summer Art Exhibition, held from 1–3 August at St Mary’s Arts Centre, Sandwich.
What began as a small platform for members of The Arts Society Sandwich (TASS) has grown into one of East Kent’s flagship cultural events—attracting more than 400 visitors and showcasing the work of 29 talented Kent-based artists.
Curated with Vision and Passion
This year’s exhibition was co-curated by Crystal D. Evans, a featured artist at the Barcelona Contemporary and fresh from a solo show in Venice during the Biennale, together with Christine Ratcliffe, painter, arts supporter, and TASS Committee Secretary. The event was made possible through the invaluable organisational support of the rest of the TASS committee.
A Showcase of Artistic Diversity
Visitors enjoyed a vibrant mix of artistic expression—oil paintings, ceramics, sculpture, photo-poetry, and conceptual mixed media—reflecting the creative diversity of our region.
We’re thrilled to share that 130 artworks were sold, covering our costs and generating a healthy profit to support future TASS activities. The exhibition also sparked renewed interest in membership and helped strengthen our connections within the wider arts community across Kent.
Spotlight on Featured Artists
Among this year’s highlights were:
- Rebecca Herrington, recognised by the Royal Academy for her intricate naturalist works
- Jo Court, award-winning photographer
- Angelo Pizzigallo, whose bold, expressive pieces resonated deeply with audiences
We also extend a heartfelt thank-you to L’Arche Kent, whose joyful and thought-provoking contributions inspired some of the weekend’s most meaningful conversations.
Words from Our Visitors
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive:
“Superb display of talent in such a beautiful building.”
“Simply fantastic. What we need in the world.”
“Great exhibition – has inspired me to take up my brushes.”
A Community United Through Art
We’re grateful to everyone who visited, supported, and participated in this year’s event. Your enthusiasm continues to make The Arts Society Sandwich a thriving hub of creativity and connection.
